Nassau Academy of Family Physicians
 Values:
These are the qualities considered most important by family physicians in Nassau County. Nassau's family physicians:
  • Are exceptionally prepared to manage the health care of all people and to integrate the work of other specialists and health care providers.

  • Value patients as individuals and treat them with caring, openness, compassion and concern through communication and permanence of care.

  • Support for patients as whole people, taking into account social, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of their lives within the context of their families and communities.

  • Believe in the increased encouragement of preventative medicine and public health efforts.

  • Are educators who endow with important information and help that allow people to make knowledgeable health care decisions.

  • Accentuate the strength of the science and art of the family practice specialty through our practice and consulting relationships.

  • Believe we are highly qualified to teach family medicine and other disciplines in medical schools and residences.

The Nassau Academy of Family Physicians:
  • Speaks for Nassau family physicians and their patients.

  • Seeks the strength that comes from a diverse membership serving communities with varied needs.

  • Encourages membership involvement and provides headship and influence in the health care community.

  • Values the active participation of students, residents and new physicians and creates an environment that encourages their participation.

  • Values fairness in patient care, reimbursement, internal activities and interaction with other organizations.

  • Values upbeat, progressive action and joint effort in addressing Nassau AFP goals.

  • Will be a unifying resource for sharing and disseminating information and ideas within family medicine in Nassau County.
